Introduction

Since 1989, the Saskatchewan Aviation Council (SAC) has been improving aviation in Saskatchewan. What began as a small group of pilots has grown to include members from all facets of the aviation industry. Today, SAC is the province's single, most influential voice in aviation.

What SAC Can Do For You

Our mandate is to promote and enhance aviation in Saskatchewan. We can help make things happen at your local airport. We can help make your business more profitable. We cut through the governments' red tape to make aviation better for all.

When SAC speaks, authorities listen. We address your individual issues and concerns, then present them to the decision makers. Our membership numbers back us up. The voice of many is far more convincing and credible than that of just one.

Why Should You Join The SAC?

Because we work hard to support you, The Member!  Here is what we do and what we have accomplished in the last years:

  • reduction of Saskatchewan Aviation Gas Tax to 1.5 cents for Jet Fuel and Avgas (2005)
  • We have representation on the NAV CANADA ADVISORY COMMITTEE
  • Engaged in strategy to keep our Saskatchewan Airports viable
  • Completed Airports Economic Impact Study
  • Annual Aviation Development Forum with Saskatchewan Highways & Transportation and the two Airport Authorities
  • Teamed with Aerospace Industry in Saskatchewan
  • Involvement on an ongoing basis with Amco and others in the Industry Leaders area where we are working to deal with provincial or association issues on a national basis.
  • Annual Wings of Saskatchewan Conference & Tradeshow
  • Support of Aviation Students through 2 scholarships awarded annually - one for a Pilot student and one for an AME student
  • Continued support of the Siast Commercial Pilot Diploma Program through promotion and incustry support
  • updated Saskatchewan Air Facilities Map, in partnership with Saskatchewan Highways & Transportation and Trigon Mapping Resources
  • SAC Website - continually Updated to keep current with events, aviation news, and links to other aviation connections
  • SAC newsletter published 3-4 times a year
  • Strong alliances with COPA, ATAC, CBAA, SAAA and TheSFF
  • Strong working relationship with Provincial government and Federal government
  • Monthly conference calls with Transport Canada to voice our members concerns
  • Participation in Transport Canada Aviation Safety Council meetings
  • Our aviation inventory study shows that aviation, airports, aerospace and unmanned industries are worth billions of dollars to the Saskatchewan economy, That impact will garner more support for our industry
  • A board of directors consisting of 15 diligent professionals from all areas of the Saskatchewan aviation industry volunteer to ensure that your concerns are being heard and your needs being addressed

Without the Saskatchewan aviation industry working effectively, Saskatchewan cannot move towards growth - airports and air services are often taken for granted. We must not let that happen! Saskatchewan, more than many other areas, needs a powerful air industry to excel .

Why We Need Your Support

Most often, the concerns and issues you have are shared by others in the aviation community. But unless you step forward, the issues so important to yourself and many of your colleagues may never be heard.

We need members in all walks of life. The broader the representation SAC has from the aviation community, the stronger and more credible we become.

Although the aviation industry makes up more than 10% of Saskatchewan's total economy, rising costs are a threat. To ensure aviation interests are promoted and our facilities are protected, we need your support. Together we can make things happen!
